July 26, 2009 — Jessewww.cbc.ca CBC — Canadian researchers are testing a new device that may soon detect flu viruses circulating at malls or airports and warn people about them. The sensor is designed to detect a specific strain of flu virus, such as the new strain of swine flu, or influenza A (H1N1), as well as measure its concentration in the air.
